About Galter Health Sciences Library

The Northwestern University Galter Health Sciences Library is uniquely positioned as a center within the NUCATS Institute, allowing for important synergies between the research, clinical and education activities of Galter Library and NUCATS. Galter Library is a next-generation fully integrated information and knowledge management hub for Feinberg School of Medicine. Galter Library provides dedicated support for the research, education, and patient care activities of the Feinberg School of Medicine and the McGaw Medical Center.

The library’s over 41,000 square feet physical facility provides a comfortable and welcoming environment for collaboration and research with expanded study spaces and 12 conference rooms to facilitate individual and team-based activities. A large portion of the library is available as a 24-hour facility with study space, 3 small group rooms, and over 30 computers to provide students, faculty, and staff a convenient place to study and work with anytime access to library resources. A networked conference room with 8 desktop computers provides an inviting space for small-group instruction and online activities. The library’s website provides 24-hour access to a vast collection of online medical resources including over 8,600 e-journals; 3,000 e-books; and 300 databases. Other core library services include a diverse curriculum and research support through the library's liaison program, as well as EndNote and publication support; document delivery to users’ desktops; and wireless access throughout the library.
