Galter Health Sciences Library Director Leads Evaluation Efforts for NUCATS

You may know Kristi Holmes, PhD, as the director of the Galter Health Sciences Library and associate professor in Preventive Medicine-Health and Biomedical Informatics but she also plays a pivotal role in the NUCATS Institute's evaluation efforts. In her role as associate director of Evaluation in NUCATS, Dr. Holmes will lead the Evaluation and Continuous Improvement (ECI) Program for the Institute. Read more>

Galter Health Sciences Library Supports Informatics and Computational Science

Galter Health Sciences Library has been ramping up its resources and support for informatics and computational science at the Feinberg School of Medicine. As part of these efforts, the library launched a set of talks and workshops in a series called Computational Skills for Informatics. The series is a collaborative effort between NUIT Research Computing, Galter Library, and NUCATS Center for Data Sciences and Informatics. Galter Health Sciences Library Welcomes Digital Innovations Librarian to the Team

Please join the NUCATS Institute in welcoming Violeta Ilik, MLIS, to the Galter Health Sciences Library team. Violeta will serve as the digital innovations librarian. Violeta has experience with managing content creation and dissemination of print and digital resources, supporting a scholars' online identity with researchers' management systems, and providing support for faculty, students, and staff on scholarly communication issues. Galter Library Director Nominated to Serve Four Year Appointment on NLM's BLIRC

Kristi Holmes, PhD, director of Galter Health Sciences Library and associate professor in Preventive Medicine-Health and Biomedical Informatics, was nominated to serve on the Biomedical Library and Informatics Review Committee (BLIRC) of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the only charted study section of the NLM. The Extramural Programs (EP) of the NLM offers grants for research projects and research training in biomedical informatics. The majority of NLM's applications are reviewed by the BLIRC and reviewers are chosen primarily for their subject domain expertise. Dr. Holmes will serve a 4 year term starting in November 2014.
