The NUCATS Secure Application Federated Environment (SAFE) team provides consultation, development, hosting and support services that address the evolving needs in human subjects data protection.
The Galter Library has informatics software available for use on library computers, and a license to the web-based pathway analysis package GeneGo MetaCore.
The NITRO Suite and Hosted Applications
The Center for Data Science and Informatics develops and supports more than 20 software tools to augment and accelerate the translational research process. Previously separate software tools have been integrated into the Northwestern Integrated Translational Research Optimizer (NITRO) Suite of tools.
NUCATS offers software tools to help in the planning, development and conduct of research.
|Collaboration||LatticeGrid - can help you identify the network of collaborations that currently exist, in order to connect with potential collaborators.|
|Hypothesis Development||Northwestern Medicine® Enterprise Data Warehouse (NMEDW) - the NMEDW may provide information to help you develop your hypothesis.|
|Protocol Review||NITRO Competitions (formerly NUCATS Assist) - provides tools for investigators, reviewers and administrators to run various types of reviews and competitions including pilot projects, research awards, and reviews.|
Northwestern Medicine® Enterprise Data Warehouse (NMEDW) - the NMEDW is available to begin assessing the feasibility of your research study.
i2b2 (Feasibility Query Tool) - the i2b2 query tool provides you with a way to conduct your own feasibility analysis.
Center for Clinical Research (CCR) Feasibility help - if you need help assessing the feasibility of your study, the CCR may be able to help
|Funding||NITRO Competitions (formerly NUCATS Assist) - provides tools for investigators, reviewers and administrators to run various types of reviews and competitions including pilot projects, research awards, and reviews.|
|Recruitment||NITRO Recruit - If you are interested in developing a research registry or screening form to collect potentially interested participants, or if you are interested in seeing people who have already expressed interest in research and may be potential participants for your study.|
|Enrollment||NITRO Study Tracker (formerly eNOTIS) - provides a web-based study enrollment log to track enrollment.|
NITRO Study Tracker (formerly eNOTIS) - Study Tracker allows researchers to create data collection forms that can be directly linked to participant events and schedules.
REDCap - REDCap allows researchers to define and manage their own data collection forms.
NITRO Study Tracker (formerly eNOTIS) - NITRO Study Tracker not only supports enrollment, but helps monitor participants as they progress on your study.
Systems developed by NUCATS are released as open source projects, meaning that the source code is publicly available for other institutions to view. The source code for these software tools can be found in a few public source code repositories:
- GitHub - multiple applications and libraries are available from the our GItHub site
- Bioconductor - two packages, lumi and MassSpecWavelet are available
