Application & Requirements
The MSCI program accepts students from a variety of healthcare backgrounds who are interested in gaining the skills to conduct sound clinical research, particularly translational and clinical epidemiologic patient-oriented research. Students may enroll at the start of any of the four quarters. This is part-time program offers evening courses in a live setting.
Application & Admissions Requirements
- Graduate professional degree in a healthcare-related subject area (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, PharmD)
- Professional healthcare experience
- Test scores (GRE, USMLE or MCAT)
- TOEFL scores are required of most international applicants. Minimums are 80 (internet-based)/213 (computer-based)/550 (paper-based). TOEFL can be waived if you have earned an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited, four-year institution or equivalent or a graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution. In both cases, English must be the official language of instruction.
- Statement of purpose
- Official post-secondary transcripts, sent directly from issuing institution's registrar to Graduate School Admissions Office, 633 Clark Street, Evanston, IL 60208-1113
- Two letters of recommendation
- Must include one letter from the primary research mentor. Applicants not anticipating tuition support from their department/division also need one letter from a secondary research mentor. Applicants who do anticipate needing support also need to submit a letter from their department/division administrator or chief outlining their support.
- A confirmed mentor with data that is available for secondary analysis
- History of publications or first-authored presentations at academic conferences

The MSCI degree maintains a rolling admissions schedule, but summer or fall applications are ideal/preferred.
Once your application is complete, be sure to schedule an interview with the MSCI program director.
